Vaeh's official birthday was May 14th, and I am just getting around to blogging about it. Yes, I know, that's just ridiculous. I have a million excuses, but that's all they are. So we won't even go there.

On her actual birthday, we went out to eat with family, then back to our home for dessert and presents. It was so much fun and our little princess enjoyed every minute of it. Here's some pictures to prove it.

Then we had a pool party at my parents house. Vaeh is a little dare-devil (just like her daddy and brother) and loves just jumping in, regardless if there is someone there to catch her. She loves the water...

What a quick year that was (she actually turned 15 months, yesterday!). It was an amazing one, watching my baby grow up. She has such a sweet personality and her smile is so contagious. He favorite toy is her 'Cars' purse (D's old Cars Easter bag) and her pink dolly. She loves fruits and veggies, but her favorites are tomatoes, avocados, zucchini, bananas, strawberries, and cantaloupe. She is so much fun and we love having her around!

A couple of weekends ago we got to take a little family trip down to Cedar City (for my little sisters water polo tournament) and to St. George (to visit my father-in-law). Who doesn't love little spontaneous trips with their family? I sure love them! It's ALWAYS exactly what the doctor ordered.

Devarian also started T-ball this spring. Daddy is his coach. He loves it. T-ball/Baseball is definitely his sport (he wasn't a fan of soccer). He is already hitting when "coach" pitches it, instead of off the T. We are very proud of our big boy!

We went to the Dino museum with Gma & Aunt Denyse. I don't think I could spent too much time with my family. I just love being around them. I am so glad Ty loves them as much as I do (and they might love Ty more than me, especially my dad!).

On April 13th, at 11 months, Miss Nevaeh May decided to walk! We are very impressed with her.

Daddy, big brother and I couldn't be prouder. She sure is one sweet girl, besides being blessed with a healthy temper. :) Almost one month later, she is cruising all over. Updated video to come...

March 5th, 2011, our family was sealed, for time and all eternity, in the Draper Temple.

It was an amazing day, to say the least. It will be one that we will remember forever.

Devarian was so excited he was able to go to the temple. He loved it there. He wants to go back and asks to, all the time.

I love these guys (and many more of you out there). I was always so worried about all of them. Worried about when I'd lose them. Worried about how I'd lose them. Worried that I wouldn't be able to handle it. Worried that I wasn't spending our -quickly ticking away- time, as good as I'd like. Needless to say, I spent a lot of my precious time, worrying about EVERYTHING. Anxiety should have been my middle name.

I can honestly now say, I feel like a gigantic 'weight of worry', has been lifted from my shoulders. I don't feel so stressed. I know, that regardless of what happens to us, we will be together forever. That brings peace to my heart and soul.

Thanks to everyone that was able to attend and thanks to all of you that offered sweet words and deeds. We love you ALL!

I cannot believe it...

My baby boy turned 5!!!

It's so sad for me to think he is growing so fast. I hate the thought of him growing up and moving out of our home. I dread that day. Until then, I will continue to celebrate this sweet boys birthday, pretending I am as happy as he is, that he is another year older. When in reality, I am one year closer to him leaving my side. I tear up just writing that. Don't get me wrong, birthdays are a BIG deal and SO much fun to celebrate. I love a day devoted to celebrating amazing people in my life. A day where I can overly express my love and appreciation for them. A day when I have a little more of an excuse to give him a MILLION hugs and kisses (even though he still gets a little annoyed).

We celebrated with a couple parties (Star Wars was the theme he chose this year)! How do I say no to his cute face? I can't. It's impossible. That's why after less than two years in our home, we need something bigger.

Since my last post!

I know, I am horrible. The holidays were just so hectic. I couldn't find my sanity, let alone the composure to post, so I took some time off. We went on vacation the 2nd week of December and that made it even harder. Excuses, excuses... I know.

So... an update.

We are all doing great. I am still eating Vegan and going strong. I feel great, with little or no pains (and I've lost 8+ lbs!)! It was amazing how quickly I started to feel better. Within a week I noticed a big difference. It was like my body took a breath of fresh air, in relief of not having the food my body can't handle anymore. Here are a few things I have been eating, since going vegan...


French toast (instead of eggs we use banana, rice milk and cinnamon, blended up).

The only syrup we use, the real thing. Yum!

The complete french toast. We also have a smoothie every morning. Now they are green (fruit, greens, pure pomegranate juice, flax seed, vitamins).

Some delicious pasta my madre made.

One of my favorite lunches (whole wheat, avocado, tomato, lemon juice and cracked pepper).


Some delicious "sushi" I had in California (brown rice and vegetables. why doesn't Utah use more brown rice?).


Spicy fries (baked with cajun, chili powder and pepper).

Garlic mashed potatoes (rice milk, onion, garlic and pepper).


Pumpkin chocolate chip cookies (made with no oils, no dairy, no eggs and they are still delicious!) Mine and Devarian's favorite; Ty is not a fan of pumpkin. I'll have to take a pic of the completed look.

I am really enjoying trying new recipes and finding new ways to make our favorites. This is definitely something I plan on doing for the long haul and now that I have done it this long, I know it is possible.

I hope everyone's holidays were wonderful, while wishing everyone a happy and healthy new year.

Well...

I have officially gone vegan. Yes, you heard me right, vegan.

Not only have I decided to take this big leap, but I have chosen to go whole foods vegan (meaning I will not be eating processed foods, processed sugars, white breads, white rice, very minimal and only certain oils, things like that).

I am excited, scared, nervous, happy, hopeful, frustrated, and well, the list could go on.

As some of you might know, my dearest mom is a vegan. A whole foods, mainly raw, vegan. She has been so for over 2 1/2 years. She had many health issues (high blood pressure, eczema, etc.) that are now gone. Yes, GONE. She also "feels better than she did in her 20's" (she has also lost 45+ lbs and looks great. sorry I am sharing your business on my blog, mom).

The following book is a great supporter of the whole foods vegan lifestyle and the health benefits it can offer.

An amazing book. If you have any interest or curiosity, you should read it.

I have been struggling with painful joints for a long time now. I have a knee that has been swollen and painful for years. A month or two after Miss Nevaeh May was born, I have felt the worst I have in my whole life. I have numerous swollen and painful joints (knees, neck, ankles, hands, etc.) very painful headaches, and I am in pretty much constant pain. My immune system has been horrible with one sickness after another. I have been to doctors that don't really care and just want to do blood test after blood test to diagnose me with something. I always try to be happy and try not to complain. But, I don't want to have to TRY so hard anymore. I have gotten to the point where I am FED UP with feeling this way.
I finally met a doctor that suggested I try taking high fat proteins out of my diet (meats, eggs, dairy, etc.). He said they can cause arthritis symptoms when we have strong allergies to them. He tested me and sure enough, that is what I have!

I am ready for a change!

So, November 12th, 2010, is my day of change.

I truly believe that changing the way I eat, I can make myself feel better. I feel like I have seen and heard miracles from people that eat this way.

I just want to feel better. I want to enjoy my family more. I want to be a better mother and wife. My aches and pains hold me back from these things in a lot of ways. All I ask of you, is to support me. You DO NOT need to cater to me. You can still invite me over, even if you are making something I can't eat. You can still invite me out to eat, even if you think I can't eat anything at the place you are going (you'd be surprised). I am much more interested in your company than what is on my plate. I will eat what I can and I will survive. Please, oh please, do not get offended if I will not eat something you have made. It is not because I do not like it. I just have chosen to change my diet, to feel better, and that is all.

So...

My new "slogan" on life...

"You don't need to focus on enjoying the food you eat, because food is fuel. Enjoy your life, your family and your friends."

That "slogan" is going to get me through this. Even when I am starving and all that I can see is Mcd's! :)

My son is finally feeling better.

What a relief!

He scares the crud out of me.

He finally got to hold his sister today (he went 5 days with out, which is a lifetime to this sweet little boy, that asks numerous times a day). I feel so bad making him stay away from her when he's sick, like being sick isn't bad enough.

He even had to get his blood drawn (for the 2nd time is his life) and we had to go to G-ma Jana's directly after to "brag" about his cool bandage.

Love this boy.

I am completely and utterly exhausted! My house is a huge disaster, I have a weeks worth of clean laundry (not so clean now) sitting on my daughters bedroom floor, an overflowing sink of dishes, messy bedrooms, messy bathrooms (one of my biggest pet peeves, who wants to use a disgusting toilet?!), a very sick little boy that has had a 104+ fever, an unhappy baby (I think a combination of teething and a stressed momma), so many things to do for the fund-raising event we are putting on for Adam, business nonsense, etc. etc. I can't seem to get to bed before 1:30, either, and I am a girl that needs her sleep! It has also been an emotionally exhausting week, as my husband has decided to contact his father, after ten years of not seeing or talking to him. I am still wondering why I am sitting here on my butt blogging instead of attacking my list (or showering for that matter, both of my kids are sleeping...aahhh!). I hate it when my son is sick. I just wish I could take his pain away. I hate that he had to miss school today and probably for the rest of the week. I just wish people would stay home if they are sick! I know there are exceptions to this rule, but if I have to be confined to my house for days while my kids or myself are sick, SO SHOULD THEY!

I guess I just needed to vent for a minute. As I look back at my list and think, "If these are some of my biggest problems, I should be grateful!" I look around and see others hurting much worse, with much bigger problems. I know god only gives me what I can handle and I need to be thankful for the things that make me stronger!

So... our little miss Vaeh is a VERY big fan of her thumb. She is a pro at getting it in her mouth and there is really nothing we can do to stop her anymore. We've been trying for a while to get her to take the pacifier (and I still haven't completely given up), she just has never been a fan of it. I have to admit, it is SO dang cute! I just do not want to deal with a 4 year old sucking her thumb (or an 11 year old, like the stories everyone has heard). We might just have to deal with our little rebel when that time comes...

Big 1st Day!

Devarian's first day of school was Wednesday, Sept. 8th. He is going to "The Little Rainbow Pre-School", the same one I went to when I was little. His teacher, Carol, is absolutely amazing. I was nervous about him going to school, because I am a worry wart and I have been with him since day one (really only nervous for myself than for him). I wanted another mother figure to be his teacher, not just someone to get a paycheck. That's exactly what Carol is. He loves school SO-OO much! He talks about it everyday and is so excited to go. He has met many new "best friends", as he would put it. I just wish I was a fly, for one day, so I could see how he is at school. It would just be so fun!

He is so big now. It breaks my heart yet I am very excited for him at the same time. Being a mom is such an emotional roller-coaster!

Extra special Labor Day weekend...

We had an extra special Labor Day weekend this year. Ty was ordained a priest in the Aaronic Priesthood by my father. He was so excited about opening this new door in his life. He just lights up every time he talks about it. I am so happy for him.

I decided to post this after reading about this sweet young family (thanks to Abby). This is just what I needed. I am always in such a big hurry and I really don't know why. I am always pushing Devarian along to do things quicker. This video has made me think twice, big time. I am going to try my HARDEST to take life slower. Enjoy the little moments that I so often try to rush, like getting my children dressed, brushing teeth, feeding them (which is one of the things I always try to rush but now that I think about it... Why? Why not enjoy that time when I am having to tell my 4 year old to take bite after bite and sometimes being at the table for over an hour. So what!), bath time, etc. This young family recently lost their child. She gives such good advice in her words while grieving her baby. After our beautiful Nevaeh was born, Ty and I decided to start meeting with the missionaries. We both felt something missing out of our lives and we were ready for a change. We have since been attending church regularly and we are working toward getting sealed as a family for all eternity. Just those words give me chills. It gives me such peace (that says A LOT, I am such a worry wart if you didn't know) to know I can be with these amazing people forever. It has been an amazing change in our marriage, our family and our life.

The arrival of our precious baby... Nevaeh May Standing

For many weeks Ty and I prepared for the birth of our baby. We decided to use a birthing method called "Hypnobirthing". The method believes in a pain free birth. Hypnosis in this case, is just a VERY deep state of relaxation, where you are still in control the whole time. We prepared for weeks; Ty would practice hypnosis scripts on me every night, I would listen to hypnosis scripts on my iPhone, listen to positive affirmations, and we would also go to a class one night a week (for six weeks). It all paid off! This birth was such an amazing experience. I can honestly say I had a pain free labor and birth. The only way I use to describe the birth was a lot of pressure when it was time to push. I would recommend this method to anyone and everyone!

I went to the hospital at 6:00 am on May 14th 2010. One week before her due date, our Angel arrived at 12:08 pm, weighing in at 6 pounds 7 ounces. She was 19 1/2 inches long.

She instantly melted the hearts of her momma and daddy.

Her big brother was so excited he finally got to meet this little baby we had been talking about, singing to, reading to and preparing for, for such a LONG time (especially to a 4 year old).

Family watching in, as daddy gives her first bath to her. Devarian couldn't get enough of her. I was so happy to see how much he enjoyed her company.

Warming up after the bath. Can you believe that just an hour or so before this picture, this sweet angel was with her father in heaven? It is truly a miracle and a great blessing.

Her first car ride home. She already had changed so much. Every bit of her just makes me smile.

I am so blessed to have what I have. My children are truly miracles to me and I count my blessings everyday I get to be with them on this earth.

We had a very fun Easter this year! We had a mini Easter egg hunt at home when we woke up and gave Devarian his "Battle Set" he was dying to get from the movie "How to train your Dragon", then we went to an Easter brunch at Ty's cousins house and had a big egg hunt there and then we went to my parents house, had a wonderful dinner and egg hunt there. It really was great! Here are a few pic's of Devarian, etc. searching for eggs! He was SO excited this year to find them all.

I feel like I am getting HUGE! I am getting to the point where I don't know if I can stretch anymore. I carried Devarian very low and this pregnancy I am carrying higher, so she is always in my ribs! I feel like she is bigger than Devarian too. She feels like she takes up more room. We will see! Only 6 weeks to go!!!

We celebrated his birthday at our home with BBQ chicken sandwiches (D's choice) and the traditional chocolate whip cream cake I make for him every year. It all turned out great and he enjoyed having everyone over. He LOVES company!

He was SO excited about his birthday this year! Why is it that kids are so excited to be older and bigger? I just want him to stay little forever. We celebrated his birthday at Classic Fun Center with friends and family. He chose that place and absolutely loves it there!

The Belly...

Here are some pictures of my belly at about 22 weeks. Devarian and Dad (that is a pillow in Ty's shirt... I don't feed him that well) wanted to be included in on this too.
I feel great now! Other than the normal soreness and stretching. For the first 8 weeks or so, I was super sick! Yoga has definitely saved me this time around. It makes me feel so much better on those days when I just want to lay around. That doesn't work with a VERY active 3 1/2 year old! :) So thankful for a very supportive husband that gives me massages whenever I desire, as well! We are starting to put the babies room together and I will post pictures when it's all done. We have the crib, dresser/changing table and rocking chair in there. The bedding also, as you can see in the pictures. I need to decorate (the fun part) then pictures will be up.

I can't believe Devarian will be 4, Feb. 24th!!! He is growing up so fast is makes me sad to think about it. He is very excited about his birthday party this year. We are doing it at Classic Fun Center. Devarian also starts preschool this year, in September! I get teary eyed just thinking about it. It's going to be very hard for me to let him go! He is going to the same pre-school I went to, so I know he is in very good hands. He is already talking about it, and the friends he'll make, so that makes me feel better. I know he is ready!

Here is some of our Family Christmas pictures we got taken. Sweet Memory Garden Photography took them downtown by the Capitol Theater. They did great and I really like how they turned out. Yes, that is a baby bump in the pictures. We found out we are expecting a little baby in September, due May 22nd. We found out we are having a girl November 23rd. We are so-ooo excited. This is also the first girl grand-baby on Ty's side. His mom is very excited!!! Devarian was not excited that he was getting a little sister. He was determined there was still a brother in there. After weeks of talking to him, I think he is finally alright with having a sister. He is getting very excited now, and is starting to make plans of things he is going to do with her once she arrives. I can already see how protective he is going to be over her.

Tyler and I were married on March, 6th 2009. It was the most amazing day. We got married and had our reception at Willow Creek Country Club. We are currently looking to buy a home somewhere in Sandy. We are VERY excited about that! Devarian is happy about moving as long as he gets to bring toys with him :) Devarian just turned 3 and is such a BOY! He says the funniest things sometimes and I wonder how he takes so much in.
